iVol is a small application that offers a very convenient way to control the volume of the PC. Easy to use and requiring little configuration, iVol stays in the system tray and gives us two options to adjust the volume: either using the mouse wheel or a combination of hotkeys.
Pressing the mouse wheel while moving it up or down allows us to change the volume levels, while double clicking the wheel will silence all audio. Alternatively, we can use a combination of hotkeys to perform these functions, for example SHIFT + wheel up/down to adjust the volume, and ALT+ wheel up/down to switch sound devices (microphone, line-in, etc.). For all these functions, the program shows a small window indicating the volume level. From the settings, we can enable/disable the volume indicator, or choose the position in which we want this window to appear. Besides, we can use a sound effect to play when we scroll the mouse wheel, or set the program to start up with Windows.
In short, a very simple solution for an often repeated task.
iVol is free for personal use and there is a version for Windows and MAC OS.
